Trapezul Negru is a rehearsal studio in Bucharest that used to take bookings over the phone. Now bands book online in a few taps, and the studio runs its week from one screen.

Built like rack gear

Musicians spend their lives around amps and rack gear, so the app looks like one: faceplates, keycaps, a seven-segment clock and a week grid that sits in the panel like a screwed-in display. Only lit things get colour. Booking is three steps: how long, when, and who you are.

Privacy by construction

Bookings live in Postgres with row-level security. Visitors only see which slots are taken, and a signed-in band sees its own bookings and nothing else. Payment is settled directly with the studio, so card data never touches the system.

GDPR requirements are tracked as a checklist with a status for every item, and the privacy policy and terms are written in both languages.

Time is hard

A booking is a moment in time, but people think in wall-clock hours. Everything is converted in the studio's time zone, and the header clock shows studio time rather than the visitor's.

Mail that always arrives

Confirmations, a reminder an hour before the session and cancellation notices go out automatically, and a failed send is retried until it gets through. Every email goes out in English and Romanian.

The database's security rules are covered by automated tests, so a change can't quietly open up someone else's data.

What's next

The data model is already per-studio, so other rehearsal rooms could run on the same system.
