I wanted a sword for a mouse pointer. macOS only lets an app change the cursor inside its own windows, so making one that works everywhere took some digging.
Everywhere, in every app
The custom cursor follows you across every app, the desktop and the menu bar. A few approaches that looked right on paper did nothing on macOS 26, so I dropped them. The one that shipped is covered by tests for every case that broke an earlier version.
Effects shaped like the cursor
The aura, trail and click burst take their outline from the artwork, so a sword glows in the shape of a sword. The colours are named after gems, and you pick one in settings.
Always a way out
If the custom cursor ever ends up somewhere unexpected, clicking won't help you. So the way out is on the keyboard: ⌘⌥C three times within two seconds quits the app, and quitting always restores the normal pointer. The app also starts with the custom cursor off, every time.
What's next
It runs today as a working MVP on macOS 26.
