Waning Gibbous in Scorpio

Drag through one cycle of the Moon, from Aries to Pisces

Most moon apps show you a phase and a sign. People who actually plan around the Moon want to know the exact minute it changes sign and when it goes void of course, and they want those times to be right. Moon Codex is built around that.

Fast and offline

Planetary positions are heavy to calculate, so the phone never has to. The app opens instantly, works on a plane, and never shows a spinner for something as simple as tonight's Moon. Widgets read the same data, so the lock screen and the app always agree.

Void of course, done properly

A void-of-course period depends on where every planet is, not only the Moon, and people plan real things around it. The calculation lives in one place, and the app, the widgets and the promo videos all read from it, so the times match everywhere.

Shipping it alone

Being an indie developer in the EU means more than writing code. I set up App Store Connect, met the Digital Services Act trader requirements without publishing a home address, and wrote the store copy and the in-app articles myself. I also drew the app icon and the zodiac signs in Inkscape.

Marketing with the same code

To promote the app I built my own video pipeline. A short script becomes a narrated motion-graphics video made from the app's real interface and data. Writing a new video is mostly writing a paragraph.

What's next

Next up is the Google Play release. The Android build is ready and my developer account is verified.
